Patent Disclosure Evaluation
A rigorous, multi-step review
for every invention disclosure
submitted to KAU.
The IEC evaluation mechanism performs a 13-step patentability and commercialization analysis on each disclosure — covering prior-art search, novelty and inventive-step assessment, jurisdictional eligibility, market sizing, and strategic alignment with Vision 2030 and KAU research priorities. Inventors submit once; the IEC team reviews, refines, and responds by email.
The Process
From intake to executive report — thirteen deliberate steps.
Each disclosure is evaluated against patentability, commercialization potential, and strategic fit. Inventors do not run the analysis; the IEC team initiates, reviews, and refines the report before any outcome is communicated back.

For Inventors
What happens after you submit
- You receive a confirmation email with your IECPAT-YYYY-#### reference.
- The IEC team reviews your submission for completeness. If anything needs revision, you'll hear from them directly.
- Once accepted, the multi-step evaluation runs (typically 20–30 minutes of analysis time).
- The IEC team reviews the generated report, edits it as needed, and sends the final version to you by email.
You will not receive any automated report — every communication is reviewed by an IEC officer first.
